Our classroom door opens at 8:30am every morning and closes at 8:45am. Our pick up time is 3.15pm.
PE
P.E is every Monday and Thursday this term, please can the children wear their P.E kits to school on these days.
Spellings
Spelling lists are given at the beginning of each half term (a copy can be found here) and children are expected to use their home spelling book to neatly practise their spellings at least four times a week. They can choose whether to do this by using a range of activities, through writing sentences containing the words or using our method of ‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’. We will collect the books in every Friday ready for our test every Friday morning.
Maths
Times tables and 99 club are tested every week in school. The government expectation is that by the end of Year 4 all children will know all of the times tables and the inverse division facts. Online homework will be set using TT Rockstars which children can access through their school Wonde logins or directly through the websites/ apps- usernames and passwords are recorded in the front of reading records.
Reading
Developing a love of reading and sharing a wide range of books is very important to us. To help develop this, children are expected to read a minimum of 4 times a week at home. For more able readers, this may mean reading to themselves, then explaining what has happened to an adult and discussing any words or concepts they were unsure of.
Please record all reading in their school reading record and signed it. If you are stuck for something to talk about reading prompts can be found at the back of your child's reading record. In school once they have finished a book children can complete an AR reading quiz which gives them comprehension style questions about the text. Reading records are checked weekly.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask or arrange a meeting with us.
