PE
This term our P.E days are changing to Tuesday and Wednesday, please can the children wear their P.E kit to school on these days.
Spellings
Spellings lists are given at the beginning of each half term (a copy can be found on our class pages) and children are expected to use their home spelling book to neatly practise their spellings at least four times a week. They can choose whether to do this by using the suggested activities on the sheet (stapled to their books), through writing sentences containing the words or on a ‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’ sheet. We will collect the books in every Thursday ready for our test every Friday morning. Spelling books will be checked every week.
Maths
Times tables and 99 club are tested every week in school. Online homework is set using TT Rockstars and Numbots which children can access through their school wonde logins or directly through the websites/ apps.
Lost property
It is expected that each child will take full responsibility for their own personal belongings, especially being in Year 5, to support them with transition into Year 6 and later on into secondary school.
To support this, could we please ask that all uniform items (including shoes and coats) are marked with your child's full name.
Reading
Developing a love of reading and sharing a wide range of books is very important to us. To help develop this children are expected to read a minimum of 4 times a week at home. For more able readers, this may mean reading to themselves, then explaining what has happened to an adult and discussing any words or concepts they were unsure of. Please record all reading in their school reading record and signed it. If you are stuck for something to talk about reading prompts can be found at the back of your child's reading record. In school once they have finished a book children can complete an AR reading quiz which gives them comprehension style questions about the text. Reading records are checked weekly.
