At Treverbyn Academy we excite curiosity in our pupils and encourage inquisitive thoughts about the Universe and World around us.
We offer all students a high-quality science education providing the foundations for understanding scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Curriculum delivery is topic-based and encourages a STEM approach ensuring we develop pupils who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving, embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.
We use Ogden and The Hamilton Trust's schemes to support teaching and their hands-on investigative science activities to promote a deep understanding of scientific concepts and help children develop effective methods of scientific enquiry.
We incorporate links to our unique natural surroundings and environment such as the clay industry, showing pupils how science has changed our lives on a global and local level and promote scientific thinking as being vital to our future prosperity.
Pupils develop an understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science through regular scientific enquiries designed to answer scientific questions about the world around them. Through these active experiences pupils are equipped with extensive scientific knowledge, a thirst for the challenges of discovery, problem solving and creativity in order to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for our future. Teaching skills in the way they will be used in the workforce and the real world and motivating our pupils to become the innovators, educators, leaders, and learners of the 21st century!
