Attendance and Absences

Regular attendance is required and parents should try to make every effort to ensure children are not late. Please phone us as soon as possible to tell us why your child is absent, and when you expect them to return.

Please  call 01726 850503 (Answer phone 24 Hours)

Please leave a message on each day of your child's absence, telling us:

1.  Your child's name
2.  Class
3.  Why they are absent
4.  When you expect them to return.

If we do not hear from you we will contact you to discuss.  Unexplained absences will be classed as unauthorised. Please see the office if you need to request a leave of absence due to exceptional circumstances.

If your child has to leave school early for any reason, please inform the office who will inform the class teacher and make sure the child is collected from the Reception area.  No child should leave the school premises during school hours unless accompanied by a parent or an authorised adult.

Attendance

From September 2015 the persistent absence threshold changed from 15% to 10%. The DfE also announced that Persistent Absence will now be based on 6 half-terms for pupils aged 5-14 at the start of the academic year.

A further change to the methodology means that pupils will be classified as persistent absentees if they miss 10% or more of their own individual possible sessions, rather than reaching a standard threshold of absence sessions, based on the total number of sessions in the term/year. For example: a pupil who attended a school for 1 week, but was absent for 1 day, will now be classed as a persistent absentee, as they will have been absent for 20% of their own individual possible sessions. This information is collected via the school census report.

Please help us and your child by ensuring that their attendance remains above 95%.
