I would like to welcome you to Trailblazer’s Nursery, part of Treverbyn Academy.
Our vision is to provide a welcoming, sociable, opportunity-rich environment that safely challenges all children, enabling them to meet their full potential.
I was one of the founder members of the Trailblazers’ team, who first created a nursery provision at Treverbyn in 1997. Through a combination of hard work and determination of the team, plus, excellent support and loyalty from parents/carers, our reputation grew, resulting in other agencies and the local community promoting our setting from which we were able to expand our provision.
The purpose built nursery was added to Treverbyn school site in 2005, enabling us to cater for a wider age range, from birth to rising 5’s, and provide child care term times in line with Treverbyn Academy.
We strive for the best possible outcomes for all children using the Early Years Foundation Stage recognising that every child is unique. We provide high quality care through a well-motivated, knowledgeable and committed team of practitioners, who create a wide range of opportunities focusing on fun for all children to learn through their play thus, nurturing trust and confidence. We actively support children's emotional and social development, helping them to engage more fully in learning and life.
We welcome other settings to visit and share comments for best practice. Some reoccurring positive feedback has been how engaged the children are at their chosen activities, therefore demonstrating a feeling of security and safety. There is no question that outside spaces are essential to a child’s holistic development. Our outdoor learning environment is developing at a very fast pace, with the addition of outdoor learning activities; e.g., a sensory garden, our mud kitchen, bug hotel, tree climbing and den building. These all enhance children’s own ability at risk taking in our safe environment.
Our latest OFSTED July 2019 which was judged as “Good” in three categories and "outstanding" in Personal development, Behaviour & Welfare, emphasized the exemplary behaviour of children. How staff provide a caring atmosphere where all children receive individual attention and form close attachments. Children are exceptionally happy and secure. Our practitioners work positively with parents and children resulting in effectively ensuring that children’s unique needs are identified, with their spirit and ambition being respected and met.
Our Nursery team is proud to be a part of Treverbyn Academy and enjoys working alongside a multi-skilled team to continue to build on the progress that has already been made. Our vision is to provide a welcoming, sociable, opportunity-rich environment that safely challenges all children, enabling them to meet their full potential.
