We hope you are all looking forward to a happy and productive year where your children develop as happy and independent learners.

The children will start their day at 8:30am and end their day at 2:50pm so please ensure they are dropped off and collected at these times following the one-way system around school and maintaining social distancing whilst on the school premises. Thank you for your support in this already.

Learning through role - play

You may have heard all about our book corner and 'bakery' area. This has been purposefully set up to enhance children's relationships, speaking and listening skills and power their creativity. This area also links with our topics throughout the year, so keep an eye-out as it will be changing!

We are passionate about reading at Treverbyn. The children learn the important skills needed to read when they are in school, but becoming a reader takes a lot of practise. Please support your child's development as a reader by listening to them read at least 4 times a week. Please write in their reading diaries when they have read at home. The children will need to bring their reading books and diaries into school each week for further monitoring. This is vital to children’s progress in reading so please support us and your child with this area.

Miss Warn will also be reading our class Chapter book each day before lunch time. We will be hearing stories from lots of different authors throughout the year including Roald Dahl, Jeremy Strong and many more.

Free fruit will be given daily as the children’s morning snack. You are more than welcome to send your child a healthy snack to eat at break time also.

Our P.E day is Monday. Please send your child to school in their P.E kit on this day. You may want to also pack them a jumper to wear in the colder months. It is important that all P.E clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name, including trainers/plimsolls.

Please also ensure that water bottles, packed lunch boxes, coats and school uniform are also clearly labelled.

Year Two will have a big focus on improving and developing our skills that we learnt in Year One.
Children will be expected to read 4 times a week, learn their spellings ready for their Storytelling sessions and complete any other homework pieces set. This will enable them to apply any skills from school in other environments and also allows parents and carers to see what the children are learning.
