Homework

Spellings

All children should practice their spellings four times a week in their spelling books. They must also write five sentences in their spelling books. Each sentence should contain one of that weeks spellings. The idea of this for the children to demonstrate they understand the meaning of their spelling words.

Spelling books are to be handed in every Thursday morning for staff to check. Children who have done their spelling practice and sentences will get a Well Done ticket.

Spelling tests are every Friday morning.

Reading

Children should have at least four recorded reads in their reading records every week. Records are checked every Friday morning. Children who do their four reads get a Well Done ticket.

A read counts as long as the child has either read to you, a sibling or another trusted person or if they have read on their own but can tell you about what they have read. Please ask lots of questions about the books as a good level of comprehension is very important at this stage.

Maths

We would like the children to regularly use TT Rock Stars and SumDog at home to practice their arithmetic skills.

Children practice their times tables every morning and are tested every Friday morning.

Thank you for your continued support. The time you take with your children outside of school to do these activities is hugely valuable to their education.
