Year 3 Class Teacherjoe.email@example.com
Hello and welcome back to the Summer term in Year 3.
Year 3 is made up of Mr Emery, Mrs Michael and Mrs Wallet.
The classroom door will open at 8:35 every morning and close at 8:55 when we register the children. All children are expected to arrive within these times and begin their morning task. The doors will open at the end of the day at 3:10 and close at 3:25.
P.E. for the Summer term will be on a Monday and Wednesday although this occasionally changes, so ideally the children need a full P.E. kit (white t-shirt, black shorts, trainers and a change of socks for girls wearing tights) in school every day. Please could you ensure that all items of P.E. kit, including the P.E. bag, are clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Spellings lists will be given at the beginning of each half term (these are also available on the year 3 class webpage) and children are expected to use their home spelling book to neatly practise their spellings at least four times a week. They can choose whether to do this by using the suggested activities on the sheet (stapled to their books), through writing sentences containing the words or on a ‘Look, Cover, Write, Check’ sheet. Spelling books will be checked every week.
Times tables will be tested every week. Most children have now recapped two, five and ten times tables and are now moving on to the three and four times tables. By the end of Year 3 the children will be expected to know the two, three, four, five, eight and ten times tables.
Children are expected to read a minimum of 4 times a week with an adult. For more able readers (grey level and above), this may mean reading to themselves, then explaining what has happened to an adult and discussing any words or concepts they were unsure of. All reading must be recorded in their school reading record and signed by an adult. Reading records will be checked weekly.
There will be a half termly homework challenge which is on the website and as part of the termly topic leaflet. These are due in by the Monday of the final week of the term.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask or arrange a meeting with me.
We are really looking forward to our 'Field to Fork' topic this term!
