Dear Parent/Guardian,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Year 3. The following information may help you to organise your child’s school day.

P.E. and Games will take place on a Monday (Yoga), Tuesday and a Thursday, so can you please make sure children have their P.E. kits for those days.

Our homework policy for Year 3 will be on-going spelling practice ~ pupils will be given spellings on Mondays for a test on Fridays. Children will also be expected to complete weekly homework tasks in Maths: Maths homework will be set on a Friday and to be completed by the following Friday. This will be computer-based task and more information will be sent home next week about this. Every half term there will be a Topic based task to complete to be given in and shown to the class at the end of the half term.

We encourage children to read with their parents as frequently as your time will allow; and to mark this in their reading diaries.

As children have now moved out of Key Stage 1, they no longer get a snack at breaktime as no fruit is provided for older children, even if they are provided with free school meals. Could you please ensure you send your child with a snack to have at breaktime.

In Year 3 we will also be using Class Dojo, it allows easy communication between myself and you. Also, you can see how your child is getting on every day, with class dojo points being awarded for good work and behaviour. There will also be photo updates on the app. Attached to this letter is how you register with Class dojo to get the messages and updates.
